I come across a telekinetic kid in the middle of a riot situation who's using her powers to make said situation worse, I'm going to take the car she's flinging around away from her and spank her with it.

Also, what the hell is it with riots and following me around? Am I a riot magnet? Do I attract them? If so, I need to start staying away whenever a fellow mutant is scheduled to make one of the most important political speeches of his career. Because apparently, riots happen and the speech gets cancelled, and a whole horde of loathsome little punks with the collective IQ of a particularly dull earthworm get to walk away high-fiving and feeling that all is right in their warped little world. May they all drown in the East River, bigots and would be gene-Nazis alike. You have no idea how badly I was tempted to drown them in the East River myself.

They won. Goddamn them all to hell, they won. Even if Barath makes the speech first thing tomorrow morning, they still managed to silence him today.

Not one of ours, I assume? The car-spanked telekinetic, I mean. The riot seems to have been intense but dispersed after the police started breaking things up. It would be interesting to check emergency room reports and see which side shows up with more injuries sustained while the police were quelling the riot.

But I don't think Minister Barath has been silenced. From what I know of the man, not having had the opportunity to speak directly with him, he doesn't seem like the type to back down. The kind who if you kick him today for his views, is just going to come back more vehemently tomorrow.

Oh, I don't doubt he'll be right back there tomorrow. But even one day silenced is too much for me. They don't deserve to win, not even for the day.

For once, I have to agree with Forge.

They have not won. So long as there will be another opportunity for him to speak and there is another place where the three separate groups meet, they will not have won.

And there world may seem warped to you, but it is what they think and how they live. You'd be surprised how many of their goals are the same as yours.

That being said, the image of Rebecca being spanked with that car will amuse me for the rest of the day.

I imagine Istvan Barath will investigate this whole concept of 'shutting up' roughly three days after he's dead and buried. (Hopefully that date is well off in the future.) But like I said to Forge, it galls that they even got the day. They don't deserve it, any of them.

I'm afraid I'm not very good at living and letting live when it comes to certain mindsets. Either extreme is wrong and dangerous, and winds up dehumanizing someone, which to me can never be right. Even if they have decent goals, the ends cannot justify the means.

Anyway, Forge is right. That was nice work with the car.

Speaking as someone who knows a bit about magnetism, I don't think you're quite so much a riot magnet as it is that you and riots share a polarity, as it were. Actual riot magnets tend to attract you too.

And I'm going to agree with the children, Dayspring. This was perhaps a lost skirmish, but I'm perhaps optimistic enough to believe the war is still going our way. No doubt there will be some furious rewriting going on in Barath's hotel suite tonight, and the rescheduled speech will be the more effective for it.
