I'm firing my secretary. She's conspiring with my daughter. It's profoundly disturbing.
Speaking of my daughter, I will be packing up myself and her and going back to Tel Aviv tonight. My schedule's clear tomorrow, and I'll be back in time to teach on Monday, so no worries, my faithful and much-neglected Russian students. I do love you all, and you'll be just thrilled to know that I'm taking your quizzes with me to mark.
Although not on the plane. I believe I will be watching Rachel, on the plane. Yes, I am taking my flying offspring on commercial air. Pray for me, if you're so inclined.
Note to Elpis folk: Like I said, I'll be back on Monday. If anyone works over the weekend, I'll fire you. Out of love, but I can play Juliette's games and lock out the network too. Watch me. And when we get back on Monday, guys, we've got to talk. We've had invites to that conference at the UN this coming week, the one on Smichov, for a while now - I know it's been pretty much forgotten what with everything else going on, but we'll need at least a token presence.
And... Joel wants me to talk. Literally. There's a twenty-minute slot at one of the afternoon sessions that they've offered to us, and he wants me to be the one to take it. The idea scares the crap out of me.

Ah, but you cannot fire a volunteer. Or at least, the threat is not as extreme. Lucky for you I am still in Attilan and not returning until the weekend is through so you will not have to figure out a way to "lock" me out.

Yes, but you're also a model of pacing and good sense, unlike the poor people who've spent far too much time around me. It is all my fault, really.

That is because, unlike the rest of you, I am sane.

Mother disagrees with your declaration of sanity.

You should hear what she says about yours.

So, should we open book on what things Ray flings around the plane? Because I'm thinking goldfish crackers and a flight attendant. Or goldfish crackers at the flight attendant.
Heck, I wanted to do that the last time.

It should be all right. I just have to make sure I keep an eye on her every minute of the flight and forestall any eruptions.

I assume you mean "I'm taking Ray to be dropped off with her mother and then going to Tel Aviv" and not "I'm taking my toddler to a place where suicide bombing is the national sport".

I thought about that. Moira and I talked about it. But Tel Aviv is, or at least is going to become over the next few years, a third home for her, where a lot of the people who care about her are going to be living permanently. And life goes on, even there.
The villa and grounds are properly secure, in contrast to the office. And her godmother wants to see her.

If that's the case, shoot me the contact info for whoever's handling your security there. Given the current situation and the high-threat status there, I might have some input on improving that safety.

I'd appreciate that, Forge. Thank you. If you could offer any suggestions for how to secure an NGO's office without turning it into an armed camp, that would likewise be appreciated. I think we've about 95% decided to rebuild the old building instead of going for a new location, and the same challenges are still going to be there.
