It turns out that when you typed it all up and make it look pretty, it appears that we brought back considerably more information from Afghanistan than I thought we did. GPAT - that would be the UN's Global Programme against Trafficking in Human Beings - is going to get a fairly useful package tomorrow. It's not conclusive and it's not all the answers they need on a silver platter, but it's enough hard evidence to give them some ammunition to push the Afghan government to start enforcing their own laws. Which is about all that they can do, and I keep telling myself that incremental steps are worth taking even if they feel very, very slow.
Bobby, Angelo, Rahne... I think I need to treat the three of you to a nice dinner at some point soon. I can only give you all so many raises in the course of one year, so I think I need to start investigating the small gestures of appreciation. Since you seem to warrant them so often.
