Jetlagged all to hell and back, but the expedition was moderately successful. Although I think I still smell like horse. Let's not even talk about the hangover. Fermented mare's milk is a bad, bad thing.

I think I may go nap, since my wife and daughter appear to be nowhere in evidence...

I'll definitely take you up on that, once I've slept a little - I managed not to fall asleep in the shower, go me. But the one you really ought to be feeding is Haroun. He took a dislike to Kazakh cuisine and spent nearly the whole time eating MREs.

What was I supposed to do? Force-feed him the horsemeat he found so objectionable? It took him until our very last night there to accept that some of the food he was being offered had nothing to do with horse and probably was just fine...

But transcribing them will have to wait until I'm more than semi-conscious. I was scrawling them down in Kazakh as Damira was dictating.

As for horse... horsemeat is not bad at all. It does not taste like chicken. And the things Kazakh women do with it are quite impressive.
