One year ago today...
Feb. 23rd, 2005 10:18 amI woke up in medlab, found out that I was no longer in Lichtenstein, and growled at Moira for having drugged my coffee.
It boggles my mind just how much has happened in the last twelve months, bad and good. I've had several flirtations with cardiac arrest, been shot, stabbed, poisoned, beaten up, brainwashed, gone blind, and sprained my brain more times that I really prefer to recall. Or can recall. I'm not sure which. (Laugh, all of you.)
On the other hand, I've also fallen in love (okay, admitted that I've been in love for the last five years), gotten engaged, found out I have a child on the way, found a new family-in-all-but-blood, discovered that I really actually like teaching (even if half of you little monkeys can't punctuate a sentence properly), and am discovering that at least some of my demons can be fought, not just avoided.
I came here half-expecting I wouldn't live to see the summer. I certainly gave it the old college try. Now I know entirely too much about the future, and some rather unsettling things about my role in it. (Curse those brownies.)
I've been learning what it's like to be a human being, rather than a hunted animal. And you've all been teaching me. Even those of you who piss me off on a regular basis.
So... thank you.

I'd say something about me presuming to include myself in the thanks, but that'd get me thrown in the lake. So...
You're welcome. *hugs* And thanks back.

Presume away, mi'caehla.
By the way, you busy this weekend? I have this strange urge to do the fun kind of shopping.

Got Strange's class on Saturday, tho' I have a feeling Moira might be emailing him to tell him to concentrate on the theory and not the practice. *wry grin* But yeah, going out would be good. We could celebrate your year of not being dead and my entry into the brain sprain club... ;)

We need to save that brownie recipie. It could be useful later.

Yeah, if we ever run into an evil precog, we can make them into grenades, blow the guy's mind. :)

Sadly, we are at a defnite lack of brownies. This should be remedied.
Expedition to the kitchen to find ingredients for brownies?

That sounds like a great idea. And hey, if you remind me what the critical chocolate mass is for precognitive explodey, we can make 'em just below that, and invite Nathan down for a "been here one year and nothing blew up too permanently" party. :)

We will have to ask Nathan. He made the initial batch.
I seem to remember chocolate chips and chocolate frosting being involved.

But it's a holiday! Sort of. And we get holidays off from boom . . . er, almost half the time, I think! That cancels out, right?

to not think about it much. Because if I do, that just leads me down the Why chain, and then I'm back in Samson's office ranting again.
It's not pretty.

Yeah, well, sometimes we have to do the ranting. Trust me, suppression never works out well in the end - I speak from a certain amount of personal experience.

That means I've been here for about a year and a half. Seems longer, somehow, and at the same time shorter.
But I know _I'm_ glad you showed up, boss man.

This is true. Perhaps that's why it feels longer and shorter at the same time. A lot has happened to all of us in such a short time. Good, bad, and in between.
Heh. Boss man's got me feeling a touch nostalgic.

Why do you call Nathan "Boss man" when he is not your boss? I would think that if you should call anyone that, it might be Mr. Summers?
Also? You left one of your computer books under my bed. The one with the ... I think they are gazelles? on the cover.

I'm generally a bit more formal with Mr. Summers. I call Nathan 'boss man' from back when I was helping TA his language classes.
And thanks. I've been looking for that one. :)
